Tempeh Sausage

Use this versatile plant-based tempeh in a variety of dishes! Use with pasta, soups, eggs, and sandwiches!

Ingredients

8 oz tempeh

1 cup water

1 tsp dried fennel

1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Pinch of salt

1 tbsp coconut aminos

1 tbsp 100% pure maple syrup

1 tbsp lemon juice, fresh squeezed

1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the water, tempeh, fennel, Italian seasoning, optional red pepper flakes, pinch of salt, coconut aminos, syrup, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer and allow tempeh to absorb the water.
  2. Once the tempeh has absorbed the water, add the olive oil. Cook tempeh for an additional 5 minutes, or more, until tempeh has browned and become slightly crispy.
  3. Use the tempeh as a substitute for sausage in your recipes!
